Inner Voyage Recovery Center offers an intensive outpatient program in Atlanta that immerses each person in the type of focused care they need. Treatment sessions take place daily and teach people how to resist relapse, thus improving their physical and mental health.

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

An intensive outpatient program in Atlanta is one of three levels of outpatient care. It has fewer restrictions than partial hospitalization programs (PHP) but provides more structure than regular outpatient programs (OP). Outpatient care is less restrictive than inpatient or residential care, which requires a person to live in a facility while undergoing treatment.

A person who goes to IOP attends treatment sessions during the day and then returns home at night. Alternatively, they may live in a sober living home. IOP may be undergone after completing a residential program. It can also be used in place of residential care for those who qualify for a more open schedule.

What is IOP at Inner Voyage Like?

There isn’t just one type of therapy that helps people overcome addiction. Knowing this, we provide several different types of therapy led by qualified, experienced clinicians. The therapy modalities we offer include:

Our intensive outpatient program in Atlanta also includes the option for using medications. Several FDA-approved medications can help people who deal with drug and alcohol cravings. As well, they can help minimize or stop withdrawal symptoms that happen during the early days of recovery.

Who is a Good Candidate for IOP?

Who makes a good candidate for our intensive outpatient program depends on a few factors. IOP works well for those who do not need the round-the-clock care that comes with living in a facility. The individual also either does not need the more immersive care that comes with Partial Hospitalization Programming or they have already completed it. IOP works well for people who need the middle level of care when it comes to outpatient programs.

IOP also works well for someone who has a stable home environment they live in. Alternatively, they may be staying temporarily in a sober living home while attending IOP sessions. IOP also works well for those who want to strike a balance between getting the addiction treatment they need and still meeting their personal responsibilities. This includes things like working, going to school, and taking care of a family.

Benefits of Our Intensive Outpatient Program in Atlanta

One of the biggest benefits of our intensive outpatient program in involves our amazing, dedicated staff. Each person who comes to us receives care from experts in the field of addiction. We treat each person as an individual and design their treatment program to fit their specific needs. We understand the need to feel safe, respected, and cared for when going through treatment. For this reason, our staff strives to make everyone feel comfortable while attending IOP.

While residential programs work well for those who need to live away from home, they are not for everyone. Another benefit of our IOP plan is that it allows people to still live at home while getting well. A person can attend several sessions a week while still returning home at the end of the day. This helps people maintain employment, attend school, and meet responsibilities in their personal lives.

All of our patients will take part in individual and group therapy sessions that address the underlying root of their addiction and the ways that they can address it. While we encourage a sense of community between our patients, we also know that each patient struggles with different issues, so we focus on individual treatment.
